Here is another developement, that’s really getting hot. Why did Alan Eustace, Google SVP Engineering & Research during a Q&A at Citigroup’s 13th Annual Global Technology Conference say that payment on web is a disaster ?
How Google Checkout is functioning at this point of time is a real case of concern for google. When it was launched I really thought that it filled a void ( and even wondered why nobody realized such a wonderful oppurtunity to control the whole payment services done on the web with words like ” Secure | Anonimity | Google brand image” ) and even before the launch I was following closely the developements in the Paypal camp . As google expected the service has not caught up well with merchants. The prime reasons seems to be merchants loosing their brand name, implementation issues etc.
The recent opinion about web payments have to be read between the lines. Payment Right Now seems to imply –> At this point of time Google Checkout is not ubiquitous and the market leaders eBay/paypal, Amazon, Dell etc are “just manage to be safe”. So till the point of time Google Checkout is all pervasive net commerce will be a disaster and there is always loads of fraud stat to fall upon thanks for phisers, vishers & pharmers. A marketing strategy not upto the level of google I feel ! Only google is safe and then there will be no disaster no where – you believe ?
